1) Solve RDS Multi-AZ’s in-region-only replication with resilient out-of-region replication

StandbyMP ensures database continuity with cross-region replication and off-site Disaster Recovery (DR). It doesn’t rely on Amazon RDS's Multi-AZ setup, but rather on a true standby and failover mechanism that is more versatile and customizable.
RDS Multi-AZ is intended for high availability within a single region and does not protect against regional outages.

2) Solve RDS Multi-AZ’s limited DR flexibility with configurable and flexible DR

StandbyMP offers more control over recovery processes, including options for point-in-time recovery using its ‘Intelligent Activate’ feature.
RDS Multi-AZ provides only automated failover.

3) Solve RDS Multi-AZ’s lack of DR testing / read-only functionality with a fully-featured standby database.

StandbyMP quickly creates and monitors a true warm standby database that can be used for DR testing and queries.
RDS Multi-AZ for Oracle SE utilizes storage-based replication and therefore does not create a warm standby database that can be used for testing or queries.
