Introducing Oracle FSDR

Full Stack Disaster Recovery is a comprehensive Disaster Recovery orchestration solution provided on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

With FSDR you can create comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plans for the entire application stack, thereby delivering comprehensive and rapid recovery.

FSDR is also designed to deliver high levels of resilience and disaster coverage by supporting automated failover to out-of-region infrastructure.

Due to its high flexibility, FSDR is highly scalable and enables organisations to have a unified DR solution for any Application Stack.  This simplifies recovery processes, reducing the risk of errors and enhancing efficiency.

An Introduction of the FSDR Architecture

Listen to Greg King, Senior Principal Product Manager at Oracle, explain how a typical FSDR architecture has an application layer with Bare Metal VMs for compute; a Database Layer, which can be Bare Metal, Exadata, Autonomous Database, or a Base Database Service; and an Infrastructure Layer, with Boot Volume, Block Storage and File Storage.

Unlock FSDR Functionality for Oracle SE, SQL Server and PostgreSQL

FSDR only natively supports database replication for Oracle Enterprise Edition and above.  This limit's FDRS's potential for unifying Disaster Recovery across the organisation.  However, this support can be unlocked with Dbvisit StandbyMP.

Dbvisit StandbyMP Brings FSDR to Oracle SE, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL Databases

Dbvisit StandbyMP software extends FSDR's capabilities to Oracle SE, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases.

Using database native replication technology StandbyMP enables the creation and continuous synchronisation of a warm standby database that seamlessly integrates into FSDR's DR plans.

Unify Disaster Recovery Plans and manage DR for almost any database from FSDR's single pane of glass.

By combining FSDR and StandbyMP you can create Full Stack DR plans that cover any Oracle, SQL Server or PostgreSQL database to achieve real ease of use, risk reduction and efficiency.

During regular operations, StandbyMP ensures the standby database remains in sync with the primary database, while storage synchronization is achieved using FSDR. To reduce compute expenses, the standby application server is not created until it's needed.

When needed,  Switchover, Failover or DR Tests can be run with a single click .  The application server is created on the standby infrastructure, the standby database is activated, and the application redirected to the newly activated database.
