Their situation

From its base in Quito, Ecuador, Superdeporte Cia Ltda distributes and retails sports brands, including Nike, Puma , Adidas and Reebok, throughout Ecuador. With over 150 stores, they are the largest sports retailer in Ecuador, and amongst the largest sporting goods chains in South America. Under their commercial brand, Marathon Sports, they are a major sponsor of the Ecuadorian, Peruvian and Bolivian national football teams.

One of Superdeporte’s requirements for their new Point of Sale solution, that was to be installed in their 150+ stores, was that it be disaster resilient. Superdeporte’s IT provider, Renovation IT, needed an architecture that ensured individual stores could recover their sales data in the event of any disaster.

How we helped the client

Superdeporte and Renovation IT chose Dbvisit Standby as it was a demonstrably proven solution, and met all their Disaster Recovery requirements.

Standby is implemented at each of the 150+ retail stores to maintain an exact copy of the POS system’s sales database. For a second level of disaster resilience Standby is also used to maintain a central copy of each store’s valuable sales database.

Standby’s user interface enables easy configuration, monitoring and administration of the large number of distributed databases located across many sites.

Standby ensures the integrity of the sales database by continually verifying the standby databases so successful failover can be performed at any time. In combination with the new POS system this enabled Renovation IT to deliver a robust and reliable POS system to Superdeporte.
