StandbyMP 12.2 Released: Hybrid DR Just Got Easier

Today we’re excited to announce the release of StandbyMP 12.2, delivering improved performance and stability across all platforms, and unlocking a new level of hybrid Oracle disaster recovery in OCI.

If you’ve been waiting for an easier way to extend DR from on-premise Oracle Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition into the Oracle Cloud, this is it.

New in 12.2: Switchover Support Between On-Premise and OCI Base Database Service

With version 12.2, StandbyMP now supports switchovers between non-encrypted Oracle databases and TDE-encrypted Oracle databases like those used in OCI’s Base Database Service. This also includes switchback support from encrypted cloud databases back to on-premise non-encrypted environments which has previously been a huge headache for Oracle DBAs.

For those in our technical readers: this is achieved by creating a wallet in the on-premise environment without encrypting the tablespaces, and then using the same wallet keys to encrypt the standby in OCI. This approach ensures compatibility while maintaining encryption requirements in the cloud.

This update means you can now:

• 🔄 Quickly Create DR environments in OCI for on-premise Oracle databases (including Standard Edition) using the license-included Base Database Service.

• 🧩 Manage DR configurations in hybrid topologies - whether your environment is on-prem, in the cloud, or hybrid - all from StandbyMP’s single-pane-of-glass. StandbyMP now supports all major OCI database options including Base Database Service, Bare Metal, and VM systems.

• 🚀 Speed up and de-risk OCI migrations by simplifying switchover/switchbacks for easier POC’s and testing.

These updates build on the foundation we laid in previous versions - including integration with OCI’s Full Stack DR and advanced support for ODA KVM, and Standard Edition High Availability (SE2HA).
