When does this Privacy Policy apply

What personal information do we collect

Directly from you

We collect the following information directly from you.

When you register for, or login to, an account on our website or related services, we collect your name, email address, user name, billing information, shipping address, location password, phone number, demographic information, and any other information we require or ask for to set you up with an account. We may collect some of this information using third party authentication services (as described further in the From third parties section below). We may also collect information relating to your computer configuration (e.g. operating system, connection speed, and peripherals), the IP address and URL of the website that sent you to our website, and the types of peripherals you are using (including portable media or recording devices) to use our products or used by your computers (to ensure access to the latest fixes and patches for full compatibility with these devices).

When you visit our website, or log into or out of one of our services, we may collect information about when you logged into or out of the relevant service, and when you changed your password or billing information.

When you set up a profile, we collect your name, email address, address, location, phone number, language, bio, and any other information we require or ask for to set you up a profile. We may also collect, if applicable, software program, operating system, and content preferences and personalization information. You acknowledge and agree that parts of your profile may be publicly available. We will automatically sign you up to receive our newsletter when you set up a profile. When you fill in a contact or enquiry form on our website or linked to an email from us, call us, meet us in person or otherwise contact us, we collect your name, email address, phone number, role, organisation name, location, and any other information you choose to provide to us.

When you contact us, or a business who provides our support services, for support in relation to our website, products or services, we collect your name, email address, phone number, role, organisation name, location, and any information needed to provide the support services.

When you subscribe to our blog or sign up to our newsletter and other electronic alerts, we collect your name, email address, phone number, user preferences, and any other information you provide to us when you ask to receive our newsletter or other alerts.

When you respond to our feedback surveys or any other invitations we extend to you to participate in our user research activities (including using third party research providers), we collect your name, email address, demographic information and any other information you choose to include in your response.

When you refer another person to use our website or related services, we collect your name, email address and the other person’s name and email address, and any other information you choose to include in the referral.

When you purchase products or services from us, we collect your name, email address, phone number, purchase history, nationality, work/company name, industry, and work country, city, and region, and any other information you submit to us for services, billing and/or order fulfilment purposes.

When you purchase products or services from us that we need to physically deliver to you, we collect your name, address, phone number, delivery instructions, and any other information you submit to us for delivery purposes.

When you interact with one of our staff members, resellers or other representatives at a Dbvisit or industry event, during phone calls, emails, chat portals, or other communications, or onsite visits with the Dbvisit sales team, or when you contact us via phone, email or other communication methods, we collect any information you share with the relevant person at the time.

When you use our products or services, we may collect information concerning software programs downloaded by you or on your behalf, and products and content licensed, accessed or downloaded by you or on your behalf through our products or services.

When you communicate with us or representatives on our behalf, we may collect miscellaneous information that you volunteer or that is otherwise shared by you.

When you submit an enquiry to us under or in connection with this privacy policy, we may collect your name and contact details and any other information we require to respond to your enquiry.

When you post information for publication on our website (e.g. on message boards or chat rooms), we collect the information you include in those posts.

Some of the personal information that we collect directly from you may be mandatory and some may be optional. Under the GDPR, the transfer of personal information to a country outside the EEA may take place where the European Commission has decided that the country ensures an adequate level of protection. In the absence of an adequacy decision, we may transfer personal information if other appropriate safeguards are in place.

If you are located in the United Kingdom (UK) your personal information may be transferred outside of the UK. Under the UK Data Protection Laws, the transfer of personal information to a country outside the UK may take place where the UK government has decided that the country ensures an adequate level of protection. Where we transfer personal information outside the EEA or UK (as the case may be), it will only be transferred to countries that have been identified as providing adequate protection for EU/UK data, or to a third party where approved transfer mechanisms are in place to protect your personal information. Some of the personal information we collect is processed in New Zealand. New Zealand is recognised by the European Commission and the UK adequacy regulations as a country that has an adequate level of data protection and we rely on this decision in transferring personal information to New Zealand.
