Hybrid Oracle DR in an Encrypted World: TDE, OCI, and the Reality of Hybrid Designs
Hybrid Oracle disaster recovery is accelerating, not as a stepping stone to cloud-only, but as a long-term reality driven by regulation, cost, latency, and data sovereignty. At the same time, Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) has become a default requirement, fundamentally changing how hybrid DR architectures behave, especially when on-premises systems are paired with OCI.
In this session, we cut through high-level guidance and incomplete reference architectures to explore what actually works in an encrypted, hybrid Oracle world. Drawing on real-world experience, we highlight where common assumptions break down, why many designs fail in practice, and what teams need to consider when designing DR for Oracle Standard Edition and hybrid environments today.
