The situation

Graef Computer GmbH, a Managed Service Provider (MSP) and leader in Oracle technologies required a cost-effective, reliable, and scalable solution for Oracle Standard Edition (SE) Disaster Recovery to replace their aging GCstandby solution. As an MSP, Graef focuses on delivering tailored solutions that meet the critical needs of their clients, including small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large organizations. With over 45 years of experience, Graef supports more than 100 companies across Germany, ensuring continuous availability of their Oracle databases. Graef selected Dbvisit StandbyMP as their future DR solution to meet their clients' high demands, particularly SMEs using Oracle SE.

"One of the key advantages of Dbvisit StandbyMP was that we didn’t have to rebuild each standby database from scratch. The software recognized
the existing standby databases and immediately utilized them. This allowed us to make only minimal configuration changes, enabling us to complete each customer migration in minutes rather than days. It saved us significant time and resources while ensuring our customers experienced little to no disruption."

The challenge

After reviewing available options, Graef selected Dbvisit StandbyMP as the ideal replacement for GCstandby, recognizing its reliability, user-friendly interface, and cost-effectiveness. Graef completed a seamless migration of approximately 180 Oracle databases from GCstandby to Dbvisit StandbyMP in just three months. Managed entirely in-house by Graef's expert Oracle DBAs, the migration process was offered free of charge to their customers. Dbvisit’s intuitive interface enabled quick onboarding for both Graef’s team and their customers, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
