About DAS Protection Juridique

As a niche insurer, DAS needs to ensure it provides the same level of data protection for the critical client data it stores as much larger firms while operating within its available IT budgets. For this reason, DAS is always looking for innovative and cost-effective solutions. dbi Services is the leading Swiss IT expert for the handling of enterprise information systems based on Oracle®, and a proven supplier to DAS. dbi Services is also an established Dbvisit partner with extensive experience in Dbvisit’s database replication products. dbi Services’ staff designs, builds and operates cutting-edge IT infrastructure solutions that deliver Gold Standard Disaster Recovery.

The challenge

Working with their partners, including dbi Services and Arrow LLC, DAS settled on a solution that used Oracle Database Appliances and Oracle Standard Edition (SE) databases, with Dbvisit StandbyMP. Oracle Database Appliance integrates software, compute, storage, and network resources to deliver database services for a wide range of custom and packaged online transaction processing (OLTP), in-memory database, and data warehousing applications. Oracle Database Appliance provides a platform that is easy to install and administer, as well as the opportunity to reuse their existing Oracle Standard Edition (SE) licenses. The Oracle Database Appliance has Oracle best practices built-in and is optimized for Oracle databases. The components of each system are balanced to provide optimal database performance for a wide range of enterprise applications. By adding Dbvisit Standby, DAS was able to use the SE licenses to deliver High Availability and Disaster Recovery functionality, with high-speed data replication between two Oracle Database Appliances.

A key benefit of the final solution design was the fact that DAS was able to reuse its existing Oracle licensing. They were able to leverage these licenses to meet their requirements around High Availability and Disaster Recovery, by combining Oracle Database Appliance with Dbvisit Standby.
